Would it be a good idea to keep my photos in one catalog and scrapbooking items in another? There's just so much in the organizer, it makes me dizzy. I know in Picasa the kits showed up as a group in its own folder. I guess I like this because I'm more a visual (or just confused easily?) person. I think I'd like to divide it if possible. Does anyone do this? Thanks so much-

I realize you posted this question more than a month ago but maybe you'll still get this reply.
I have 2 catalogs one for my photos and one for my scrapbook supplies.
It makes the organizer go faster and it's easy to make extra catalogs.

I have a separate catalog for my scrap stuff...it's so much easier to keep it separate from my photos. AND it's easier to organize (which isn't really one of my strong points;) ). Good luck!

How do you make an additional catalog? I have my photos in one. How would I add another for scrap supplies? Thanks!

I am interested in this information as well, I have used PSE for a few months now and I'm feeling confident with the creative side of it but I haven't gone near the organizer, let alone create 2 of them I think I'd like to give it a try and thank everyone that has responded to these questions before and in advance for the help yet to come. I look forward to being "organized" lol.

Open PSE. Open the Organizer. Go to FILE>CATALOG>NEW. That's it!
But now for The Big Warning, which I have written about before. When you are using two catalogs, you have to remember which one you have open. If you save a layout when the Supply Catalog is open, that's where the LO will show up (you can move it to the photo catalog, but it takes several steps). It is a little bit of a hassle to remember, but I like the tidiness of having my supplies one place and my photos another. If I were REALLY a neatnick, I would probably make a third catalog for just layouts.
I wish I had a dollar for every time I have plugged Patty Debowski's book (I could buy a Mac laptop, I think!!), but here I go again. I bought the upgraded version of her "Digital & Hybrid Scrapbooking & Card-aking with Photoshop Elements," and got her FABULOUS Organizer Catalog. (You may be able to buy this separately, but the book is [IMHO] THE best for PSE-users, so why not get both?) Patty has taken the initial bite out of organizing by providing hundreds of category tags for all our elements. You can tag things by color, artist, type of element (papers, ribbons, templates, buttons, animals, hearts, seasons, flowers...the list seems endless). There have been many things I've learned the hard way about PSE and digi-scrapping, but this is one thing I did right! I got tihs organizer near the beginning, so tagging my goodies has been a cinch (once the tedious initial tagging of stuff I already had was done).
Hope this helps.
