I have texture templates and I know how to use them using "overlay." But, could you tell me how to load these as a "texturizer?" . . . .and what is the difference in the outcome of the picture, besides being able to use the scale (I believe) on the texturizer? I have PSCS. thanks:)
I don't know about PSCS but in PSE the files you want to use in the texturizer have to be a PSD format. You can then make and use your own textures. ie. take a photo of gravel or tree bark save it as PSD and then in the texturizer you can choose to load the file. Not sure but I believe most texture files are square but unsure of the size.

Hi ...
Yes you can indeed use them as a texture ... Just go to Filter>Texture>Texturiser then click on the little triangle and use that to find the psd file you want to use. I'm pretty sure that the psd file can be any sixe and shape ...
Click on this and you will see a image of where the little triangle is :)

Oh Wendy - thank you. I have some photos with texture but hadn't taken the time to figure out how to use them as textures. Didn't know they needed to be a psd. I just tried a photo I had of broken glass, made it a psd, and than used it as a texture on a background per your instructions. WOW!

Wendy, so the psd doesn't have to be "loaded" into the texturizer, you can just grab it in your harddrive? Also, if you want it "loaded" what is the path? And thirdly, can any psd be used as a "texturizer" and utilize the "scale, etc?"
Thanks for all your help! :)

Photoshop only "loads" a few default textures, as well as retaining the last texture that you did load. Any other textures you want to load have to be loaded on the fly.

The cloud texture is in the default pattern group but you can also create a cloud texture by first filling a layer or selection with a color and then choosing Filter, Render, Clouds. It will use a combination of whatever your foreground and background colors are presently. The two techniques look different, even if you scale the pattern of clouds up to 1000!
Rendering clouds forms the basis for many patterns/textures that you can create and work well on layer masks to help give a distressed look.

Thanks, Linda. Does anyone know the path for the texture?

Hi ...
Photoshop textures are within the Presets>Textures folder :)
.. but Linda is talking about a pattern and you won't be able to load a pattern into the texturiser. If you want to use a pattern as a texure you would need to start a new file then use Layer>New Fill Layer>Pattern. Next flatten the image and save it as a psd and finally access it via Filter>Texture>Texturiser ...

Help! I cannot get my texturizer to load the textures that Linda sent in this month's premier tutorial. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? It does not open at all to let me find them on my hard-drive. I have tried loading all the psd files into the textures folder - completely shut down and come back, but it still does not work.
