I installed my CS 3 upgrade without removing CS 2, because I didn't find any documentation one way or the other. I know for some upgrades, you need to have the prior version installed otherwise you can't installed it.
I've search the Adobe site, but still can't seem to find any information on it. Assume it's got to be there somewhere!
In looking at my program and application files, I now have CS 2 files and CS 3 files, so I assume it didn't write over everything at least.
Assume someone on this site will know if I can safely uninstall CS 2 or if my CS 3 upgrade needs it to remain. (my first version of photoshop was CS2, so this is my first time going through an upgrade)
Thank you!

Hi dmrdm
I have both cs2 and cs3 on my computer and am having no problems. Although I did have to call Adope tech support a couple of times because of some interference with some CAD programs that are on the computer that I am using. I didn't ask the question you are asking. But, I have decided to leave both CS2 and CS3 on this computer as they both run just fine.
Adobe tech support was very helpful and took all the time needed to fix my problem. I really appreciate their help.
Here is the number that I called for tech support.

It is quite OK to uninstall CS2 if you no longer want to keep it. However, if the uninstall routine says there are any shared files that are going to be deleted then it would be wise to say "No" to deleting them.
Before deleting CS2 you may want to check that you don't have any additional brushes, actions, plug ins etc that you want to move over to CS3.

Hi ...
I have a whole selection of different versions (three versions of Photoshop and three of Elements) and they all work just fine togather. I mainly keep them so that I can answer questions on different versions but if you are not short of space then there is no real need to remove them ..
One tip is to keep your brushes, actions, styles etc in a separate folder away from your Photoshop folder so that when you change versions you don't have to reinstall them all. .... This works great in Photoshop but if anyone is using Elements then you can only keep some of these items outside Elements itself.

I just bought a laptop. It arrived yesterday. When I install PS CS 3 (upgrade version) do I need to install PS CS 2 first?
Thank you.
