Dale, you have to use the cursor to drag out the shape onto your document. Holding the shift key as you drag out the shape will keep it in proportion. If you don't use the shift key, you can get a funhouse effect where objects are stretched or distorted.

I'm a little behind in these tutorials, but I definitely 'jumped' on trying this one. However, I can't seem to get through the second step, 'Click, press the Shift key and then drag out the shape on your scrapbook page.' I've tried clicking on the shape, shift key and dragging, not clicking on the shape, shift key and dragging, not holding down the shift key - nothing moves that shape onto my scrapbook page. What have I missed? Is something suppose to magically appear when you click on the 'Create a New Shape Layer' because nothing changes when I click on that either. I'm sure I'm missing something simple here, but I would appreciate your help in trying to figure out what it is. I'm using PSE 8 if that makes a difference.
